Community Financial Literacy 2026

Financial literacy is at the heart of the work we do at the Financial Empowerment Initiative. Every week, we host virtual financial literacy workshops on Zoom where community members can learn practical money skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Our sessions cover a wide range of everyday financial topics including:

Our approach is very practical. We focus on real-life situations that people face every day — managing bills, dealing with debt, planning for emergencies, and making informed financial decisions. Many people were never taught these skills in school, yet they affect almost every part of our daily lives. By creating a safe space where people can ask questions without judgment, we help participants build confidence and take small but important steps toward financial stability.

We have been grateful to partner with organizations such as the Africa Centre and HIV Edmonton to deliver financial literacy workshops to their communities. These partnerships allow us to reach individuals who may particularly benefit from financial education, including newcomers, individuals rebuilding their lives, and those navigating financial challenges.

We believe financial literacy is not just about money — it is about dignity, confidence, and opportunity. When people understand how financial systems work, they are better able to make decisions that support their long-term wellbeing.

Partner With Us

We are always looking to partner with community organizations, agencies, and groups who would like us to facilitate financial literacy sessions for their clients or members. Workshops can be delivered virtually or in person depending on need.

If your organization would like to collaborate with us, please contact us at: operations@thefei.ca

Together, we can continue building financially stronger communities.
