At theFEI, we understand that finances can be one of the biggest sources of stress in relationships. Many couples want to manage money better together but often do not know where to start or how to have healthy financial conversations. This is why we host our Money and Marriage seminars twice a year in Edmonton and Calgary.
These seminars are open not only to married couples but also to engaged couples, individuals, and anyone interested in learning how to better manage their finances and build healthy financial habits within relationships.
Our sessions focus on practical topics such as:
- How to communicate about money in relationships
- Budgeting as a couple
- Managing debt together
- Understanding credit and financial responsibilities
- Financial goal setting as a family
- Saving and planning for the future
- Building trust and transparency in financial decisions
Participants also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss real-life situations in a safe and respectful environment. One of the most valuable parts of the seminars is the open discussion, where people realize they are not alone in the challenges they face.
Edmonton Seminar
Our most recent Edmonton Money and Marriage seminar was held at the Africa Centre in 2025, where approximately 40 participants attended. The session focused on helping couples better understand how financial habits can either strengthen or strain relationships.
Participants learned practical strategies for budgeting as a household, setting shared financial goals, and managing financial pressures together. The session also addressed common challenges such as differences in spending habits and how to build mutual understanding when partners have different financial backgrounds.
The question-and-answer session was particularly engaging, with many participants asking honest questions about debt management, saving strategies, and how to start difficult financial conversations with their partners.
Calgary Seminar
In 2026, theFEI hosted its first Money and Marriage seminar in Calgary at the Calgary Full Gospel Church, welcoming about 20 couples. This marked an important step in expanding the program to serve more communities.
The Calgary session focused on financial planning for families, understanding credit, and practical ways couples can work together to reduce financial stress. Participants also discussed how financial education can help prevent conflict and strengthen relationships.
Many couples shared that they appreciated the opportunity to learn in a relaxed and practical setting where financial topics were explained in simple and relatable ways.
Building Stronger Financial Futures Together
Through the Money and Marriage seminars, theFEI continues to promote the idea that financial literacy is not just an individual responsibility but something that can strengthen families and communities when approached together.
We remain committed to expanding these seminars and partnering with more community organizations to bring these important conversations to more people.
