Our Financial Literacy Story

Fostering Economic Stability & Independence

The Financial Empowerment Initiative (FEI) is dedicated to enhancing financial literacy, removing barriers, and fostering long-term stability among individuals in underserved communities.

Executive Summary

Through direct action like our Free Community Tax Clinic and localized workshops, we assist underserved populations to achieve financial mobility, accumulate generational wealth, and break cycles of economic exclusion.

Expected Outcomes

Why Financial Literacy?

The Inception of FEI

Grassroots learning from the Covid-19 pandemic exposed deeply rooted systemic inequalities in Canadian financial systems.

Distrust & Disconnect

Modest-income earners and communities of color demonstrated systemic distrust and lack of understanding of Canadian financial infrastructures.

Missed Benefit Connections

A critical deficit of awareness regarding how annual tax-filing directly connects to receiving vital government credits and benefits.

Immigrant Gaps

Immigrants, including students, refugees, and temporary residents, frequently lack foundational knowledge tailored to navigating local personal finances.

Mission Statement

Removing the shackles of ignorance, financial and otherwise.

We operate collaboratively with the community. We recognize that people want to rise, thrive, and secure a brighter tomorrow for their families. Our commitment is providing the exact knowledge bases to achieve this.

"A future that is secure, financially, and in all other aspects of life."
