Financial Literacy for Young Adults (Ages 18–24)
Dollars & Cents is a practical financial literacy program created by the Financial Empowerment Initiative (theFEI) for young adults navigating real life.
Between ages 18 and 24, major financial decisions start happening fast — opening bank accounts, getting credit cards, filing taxes, managing student loans, renting apartments, starting jobs, or launching small businesses. Yet many young adults are expected to “figure it out” without formal financial education.
Dollars & Cents was created to change that.
What the Program Covers
This program focuses on real-world financial skills, including:
- Creating and managing a realistic budget
- Understanding credit and building a strong credit history
- Avoiding high-interest debt
- Student loans and repayment basics
- Filing taxes and understanding income
- Saving and emergency funds
- Introduction to investing
- Financial planning for independence
We keep sessions practical and relatable. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, share experiences, and walk away with tools they can use immediately.
