Preliminary data will be posted on on December 28 and 30. Regular reporting will resume January 4.

COVID-19 vaccines help prevent you from getting infected and protect you from getting severely sick if you do get it. All vaccines are safe, effective and save lives.

Everyone 5+ can get vaccinated. Children 5 to 11 must book online or by calling 811, walk-ins are not available at this time. People 18+ can get a third dose 5 months after their second dose.

Book your vaccine here.

AHS clinics and pharmacies use the same central online booking system. You can also book by calling 811, visiting a walk-in clinic, or contacting a doctor’s office.

Vaccine effectiveness against infection may decline over time – especially with the highly transmissible Omicron variant – but they remain the best way to prevent severe illness and death. Third doses can boost immunity to improve protection and limit spread.

Evidence is clear: Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community by making it more difficult for the virus to spread from person to person.

It is much safer to get vaccinated than it is to get infected. Vaccines make our immune systems stronger by building antibodies to fight off disease. Because COVID-19 is a new virus, no one has pre-existing immunity.

Delaying or refusing vaccination carries serious risks. Albertans who are not fully vaccinated account for 80% of patients in hospital and 90% of patients in ICU with COVID-19. It may also extend the need for public health measures to continue.

Progress to date:

As of December 28:

  • 7,594,578 doses administered
  • 89.2% of Albertans 12+ with at least 1 dose
  • 85.2% of Albertans 12+ fully vaccinated
  • 2,151 adverse events following immunization
